Steven Tyler

Steven TylerUnder the direction of Frank Connelly, their first manager, they spent some time on Boston's club circuit. They then began working with Steve Leber (New York) and David Krebs (New York). In 1972 they signed a recording agreement and debuted their first album. It was then followed by Get Your Wings, Toys in the Attic, Rocks and Draw the Line, which led Aerosmith to fame internationally and recognition. These albums yielded legendary hits such as "Dream On", Walk This Way, "Sweet Emotion" and "Walk This Way". Aerosmith's first five albums sold multi-platinum. Toys in the Attic and Rocks were also multi-platinum. As the decade went by however, the group's hectic lifestyle of traveling, recording, and living together was beginning to wear their bodies. For their notorious use of heroin and stimulants, Tyler and Perry were often called the Toxic Twins. Their relationship is well documented in numerous Aerosmith's video albums and in the Aerosmith Behind the Music. Tyler was reportedly more committed to the group and appeared to dislike Perry's aloof attitude. Perry, however, loved Tyler's love for the women she dated. The tension between Tyler, Perry, and their former girlfriends was key to the gradual decline of Aerosmith in the 1980s.
